Turkish pizza with sardines

Super simple. Very tasty! This dish is by no means traditional, but that doesn't make it any less tasty. the fatty sardines are perfect and compliment the spices and vegetables as if they were made for each other!

Ingredients
sardine mixture
- 4 cans sardines in olive oil
- 2 red bell peppers
- 2 green bell peppers
- 2 red onions
- 2 tomatoes
- 3 garlic cloves
- ½ red pepper
- Healthy amount of parsley (15-20gr)
- 2 tsp tomato paste
- 1½ tsp paprika powder
- ½ tsp chili flakes
- 1½ tsp salt
- Black pepper to taste
dough (you can also use store bought tortillas)
- 500 gr flour
- 2 tsp salt
- 7 gr yeast
- 1½ tsp olive oil
- 300ml lukewarm water
Toppings
- parsley
- Lemon juice
- Tomatoes
- Red onion
- Lettuce
- Cucumber
- Sauce of your choice (I used garlic and hot sauce)
Directions
In a bowl add all the ingredients for the dough, mix and knead for 5 min. Cover with a warm towel and let the dough rise for 1 to 2 hours.
- In a kitchen machine process the tomatoes, bell peppers, onion, garlic, parsley.
- If needed strain some of the excess juice (reserve a little)
- In a bowl add the sardines, tomato paste, the mixed vegetables, paprika powder, chili flakes, salt and pepper. (If dry add some of the reserved juice) Set covered aside until use
- Divide the dough in 12 pieces and roll them all out very thinly. Spread the mixture of fish and vegetables evenly out over the dough.
- In a dry skillet with a lit back the pizza’s until the dough on the topside is baked through (and still fluffy) (set aside covered with a towel, until you are ready to eat.
- Slice your toppings, add them to the pizza’s and serve in aluminum foil.
