Not so simple. Very tasty! The most famous Dutch classic, some delicious warm and fresh stroopwafels! Just like you buy them on the market in Amsterdam!
Ingredients
- 20 ml / 0,1 cups lukewarm milk
- 7 gr / 1 tsp yeast
- 250 gr / 2 cups flour
- 120 gr ½ cups butter
- 80 gr / ⅖ cups white caster sugar
- 1 egg
- Pinch of salt
- 200 gr / ⅔ cups golden syrup or bakkers stroop
- 120 gr / ⅗ cups light brown caster sugar
- 80 gr / ⅓ cups butter
- 1 tsp cinnamon powder
- 1 tsp salt

Directions
- Wake the yeast in the milk.
- In a bowl mix together the flour, butter, sugar, egg, salt and the yeast mixture. Knead until a dough is formed.
- Cover the dough and let rise for 1 hour.
- Add the syrup to a pan and stir in the sugar, butter, cinnamon and salt. Boil until the sugar is dissolved.
- Make 30-40 gr balls from the dough, flatten and bake for 1-3 minutes or until golden brown and crispy. When done directly form the waffles with a circular shape cutter and slice horizontally in half
- Spread out the syrup on 1 half of the waffle and layer the other half on top. Let cool down
- Serve and enjoy!
- Optional melt some chocolate and dip the waffles into it. Let cooldown or sprinkle some mini marshmallows or sprinkles on top before letting them cooldown
