Super simple. Very tasty! Looking for some Easter snacks, don’t look further and start robbing some chocolate eggs from the Easter bunny! A nice and freshly baked bun filled with a nice bit of chocolate!
Ingredients
- 300 ml / 1 ¼ cups milk
- 500 gr / 4 ⅙ cups flour
- 14 gr / 2 tbsp dried yeast
- 50 gr / ¼ cups caster sugar
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- Nutmeg
- 1 tsp salt
- 2 eggs
- 40 gr / ⅙ cups butter
- 150 gr easter eggs + 12 whole eggs
- 80 ml / ⅓ cups water
- 1 tbsp custard sugar
- 1 cinnamon stick
- 1 star anise
- 60 gr / ½ cups flour
- 50 ml ⅙ - ⅕ cups water

Directions
- Melt the butter in a pan and add the milk when melted, heat through but don’t let it boil
- In a bowl combine the flour, salt, sugar, all spice and 150 gr of chopped Easter eggs. When mixed go in with the eggs.
- Add the milk and keep mixing until a dough is formed. Knead for another few minutes
- Grease a bowl and let the dough rise underneath a towel for about 1 hour or until dubbled in size
- Slice the dough into 12 equal pieces and make smooth balls with an Easter egg in the middle
- Place them in a greased baking tray and let rise another time, about 45 minutes
- Make the cross paint by combining flour and water
- When the balls have risen make crosses on top and bake in the oven at 170 Celsius for about 25 minutes or until golden
- Make the glaze by heating all the ingredients for it in a pan
- Paint the buns with glaze when they come out of the oven and let cooldown
- Serve and enjoy!
