Super simple. Very tasty! A Dutch classic everyone loves! This is what the Dutch make for new year, a sort of fried doughnuts ball, soft in the inside and crunchy on the outside!
Ingredients
- 500 gr flour
- 500 ml lukewarm milk
- 1 egg
- 14 gr yeast
- 7 gr salt
- 3 tbsp light brown custard sugar
- 100 gr currants
- 150 gr raisins
Directions
- Mix the yeast with lukewarm milk and set aside
- In a large mixing bowl mix together the flour, salt, and sugar.
- Create a well in the flour mixture and go in with the milk and an egg. mix well so that there are no flour clumps.
- Well some raisins in warm water
- Mix the currants and raisins through the dough.
- Cover the mixing bowl with plastic wrap and let rise for 1 hour
- Heat a pan with oil to 180 degrees Celsius or 350 Fahrenheit.
- Take two spoons and dip them in the oil before dropping golf ball size balls of batter into the oil. Fry for around 6-8 minutes.
- Serve with icing sugar and enjoy!
